尔后百多年，京剧艺术没有停下探索的脚步，在既有基础上，几代勇于创新的艺术家又进行了大刀阔斧的创作创造，其中代表人物就是梅兰芳。我曾经主持创排新编京剧作品《齐白石》，戏中两位主角都是五四运动时期文化改革创新的伟大艺术家：一个是人民艺术家、国画大师齐白石，在娴熟掌握了中国画传统技法的基础上，进行了一场自我革命——以“红花墨叶”大写意风格引领中国画迈向国际；一个是京剧大师梅兰芳，在积累了大量的传统剧目和表演经验的基础上，结合自身艺术特点，勇于舞台创新实践，大胆革新旦角表演体系、第一个创立京剧旦角流派并推动京剧国际传播。两位大师的艺术成就，都充分说明了文化原创力的重要意义，也都充分说明了文化的原创能力，离不开积淀着中华民族最深层精神追求与根本文化基因的深厚传统底蕴。
