“It’s a low-margin industry, so it’s always a cost-benefit analysis,” Larry Cornman told me, in Boulder. “But year in and year out, people are getting hurt.” The best way to prevent injuries, Cornman believes, is to avoid turbulence altogether. Air-traffic control will warn pilots of any storms on their weather maps or radar systems.
